I’m off again! I leave in 2 days and I will be gone for 5 weeks. This round-trip to Sydney will be filled with different experiences, encounters, and greeted with a familiar smile. I am happy to get back to a place that I seemed to leave so abruptly. I am hoping the friendships I made are still fresh enough to grow. Getting back to the sunny beaches will be glorious; this time it will be Sydney summer. Hallelujah! I am expectant of great things—greater adventures, greater growth and greater excitement. I’m looking forward to the uncertainties. OH, the possibilities. It will be amazing. Please pray as I go, for favour & discovery & opportunity. I believe God has gone before. He has made the way. This is a privilege and a total blessing. Now, LET’S GO! -c

i’m burdened. i need to find a healthy, spirit-filled, mission-minded, Jesus-loving, Gospel-sharing, body-connecting church here. i know where to find that in places i am not. a sweet friend of mine shared this with me just now, Matthew 11:28-30 28“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Thank you Lord, that you care for me and my pursuits. this is still a journey, even when i find myself back on a familiar road. -c

behind the door

This morning i received an unexpected text message. The number i didn’t recognize but i did see there were more than 10 numbers…the usual for a United States mobile. It was from a friend of mine in Australia! you can imagine how excited i was to hear from a friend so far away! He asked me ‘What’s on the other side of the door that was opened for you?’. what a question, eh? It got me thinking…have doors been opened already? my response: well, it seems as though children were behind the door. i’m a nanny now (for a lovely family with 2 precious boys). And beginnings of a young adults ministry. We’ll see what else.” I’m also going to be teaching/assisting in an English as Second Language course. Reaching the nations…

It’s nothing spectacular; most of these are practical—a job, ministry, teaching—but blessings indeed! I shouldn’t underestimate the power of small beginnings. Oh! the anticipation…-c

i was welcomed back to the humidity of a southern summer’s night and smiling faces.  i’m back for the next several months at least. who knows where i’ll end up next…it will be great. looking forward to the new. i’ll take on a few new hobbies, work 2 jobs or 3, spend time with family and start up a young adults social justice connect group. prayers would be appreciated. -c

i leave Australia in 10 days and it scares the living daylights out of me.

although scared, i’m not afraid. the peace is unwavering; the excitement, matchless really to any other time i can remember. the sadness is there. it creeps its blue face up every day or so…when something i think is beautiful is found, whether it be a place or person or word pairing( aussies have a special way of speaking) or when a dear new friend makes me laugh. that’s what i’ll miss most about this place, the faces that have become FAMIL(Y)air and the hearts that are sweet. i am thankful that as i go i don’t have to leave in my dust the newfound relationships. the pen pals i’ll have when i get back to Alabama are many. keeping in touch is so very important; i don’t know any lasting, meaningful friendship that stands without it. do you know what i mean? friends, i want to talk to you. i want to hear about your days, full in minor detail and vibrant in color—even the gray. you are special to me.

can’t wait to read to your letter in the mail. now, i’ll continue to have a listen to the wonderfully ambient the sleep design, specifically track no. 7 ‘you are my home’. play count 68. -c
